ART

Stand for Our Freedom

"I am honored and thankful to received this award and more importantly honored to be sharing the story of current situation in my home country of Myanmar(Burma). I was inspired by the multitude of people from past and present to create this art piece. The consistency of the message that has been perpetuated from 3 generations ago is still chanted in the streets of Myanmar(Burma) to this day is written all over his face. This not only shows how much strength and resilience we have as children of Myanmar(Burma) to keep on fighting for our rights but also shows us that the true change has not come to fruition yet. We must continue to fight for our freedom and democracy, for one day to be called, "the land of freedom and justice". I believe that we will make this dream to reality and end the injustice with Gen Z."

FILM

“Thank you so much, David Stanley Foundation, for this amazing opportunity and this award. As someone who only started learning filmmaking nine months ago, this has given me a huge boost in motivation to keep creating.

A little background about my video:

‘There are places in the world that aren’t made out of stone. Something inside that they can’t get to, that they can’t touch. That’s yours. Hope.’- Andy Dufresne (Shawshank Redemption 1994)

This is the quote that inspired my short film. I made this film for those that are doubting whether their voices are being heard and those that are losing hope. I’m not telling you that this suffering will end soon or that it will be an easy fight but one thing I can tell you is that hope is what’s keeping us in the fight. It’s the most powerful weapon we have. It’s the weapon our fallen brothers and sisters fought with. So let’s continue what we were doing before and TAKE ACTIONS. Let’s inspire others to continue fighting. Let’s inspire hope.”
